Maybe you’ve never even had a root beer float but you’ve heard about them and want to try one. Well, here’s a great recipe on how to make a classic root beer float that will have your taste buds rockin around the clock!

Root Beer Float Milkshake

Root beer
3 tablespoons chocolate syrup
2 - 3 scoops vanilla ice cream

Directions

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Best Recipes: Rum Raisin Cheesecake


If you like rum raisin ice cream, you’ll enjoy the flavor of rum raisin in this unique cheesecake.

Crust

1 cup old fashioned or quick cooking oats, uncooked
¼ cup chopped nuts
3 tablespoons margarine, melted
3 tablespoons packed brown sugar

Filling

2 8-oz. pkgs. cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup granulated sugar
¼ cup flour
2 eggs
½ cup sour cream
3 tablespoons rum
2 tablespoons margarine
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup raisins
¼ cup chopped nuts
2 tablespoons old fashioned or quick cooking oats, uncooked

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine oats, nuts, margarine and brown sugar; press onto bottom of 9-inch springform pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Combine cream cheese, granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons flour, mixing at medium speed on electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend in sour cream and rum; mix well. Pour over crust.

Cut margarine into combined remaining flour and brown sugar until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in raisins, nuts and oats. Sprinkle over cream cheese mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.

Loosen cake from rim of pan; cool before removing rim of pan.

Best Recipes: Spicy Vegetable Smoothie

Looking for a vegetable smoothie with some kick to it? Well, you can’t go wrong with this recipe for Spicy Vegetable Smoothie. It has a very savory taste and you’ll really appreciate the various flavors that go into making this one healthy drink that has a lot of pep!

Why have the same old boring vegetable smoothie when you can have this? Be aware that it does contain scallions so you may want to have a mint after drinking this tomato wonder, but it’s worth it. Makes a great before dinner non-alcoholic cocktail.

Spicy Vegetable Smoothie

2 cups tomato juice
1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/2 cup cucumber, peeled and chopped
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons chopped scallions
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

Directions

Combine all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.

There’s nothing more delicious and nutritious than strawberries and bananas together. Now you can have these two delicious fruits in a scrumptious milkshake. Strawberry Banana Milkshake is a great drink to have any time of day.

Bananas and strawberries are good for you and go perfectly with milk. You’re probably used to having them on your cereal, but now you can see how delicious they are in a tall, frosty glass filled with this wonderful milkshake. Enjoy.

Strawberry Banana Milkshake


2 bananas
10 oz. box frozen strawberries, partially thawed
2 cups milk
2 pints strawberry ice cream

Directions

Slice the bananas. Combine bananas, strawberries, milk and 1 pint of the ice cream in blender, in batches.

Blend until smooth. Top each with scoop of remaining ice cream.

Best Cookies: Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

These cookies are a delightful chocolaty twist on the traditional oatmeal cookie.

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

1 ½ cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
2 ½ (1 oz.) squares unsweetened baking chocolate, melted
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
3 cups uncooked quick-cooking oats
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine sugar and butter in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add eggs, chocolate and vanilla; continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Reduce speed to low; add flour, baking powder and salt. Beat until well mixed. Stir in oats and chocolate chips by hand.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls, 2-inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until set. Do Not Overbake.

Best Cookies: Chocolate Butter Cookies


Butter cookies are basic, easy-to-make cookies that can be shaped and decorated in many colorful ways.

Chocolate and almond flavoring add a deliciously elegant taste to our traditional butter cookies. Eat them plain or dress them up. These chocolate cookies are guaranteed crowd pleasers.

Chocolate Butter Cookies

½ cup sugar
¾ cup butter, softened
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa

Directions

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

In a large bowl combine all ingredients EXCEPT flour and cocoa. Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes). Gradually add flour and cocoa until well mixed (2-3 minutes).

Shape rounded teaspoonfuls as desired into 1-inch balls, logs, or other shapes (or use a cookie press). Place cookies 1-inch apart on cookie sheets. Bake for 7-9 minutes, or until set. Cool.

Decorate with melted chocolate chips, melted almond bark, nuts, colored sugars, candied fruit, maraschino cherries, etc.
